Guilford County Center: Lawn & Garden

Gardening is considered our nation's most popular pastime, yielding
fresh fruits and vegetables for the dinner table, a cleaner environment
and aesthetically pleasing landscapes. North Carolina Cooperative
Extension helps gardeners learn more about new plants, native plants
and environmental stewardship. Extension-trained Master Gardener
volunteers are instrumental in these efforts, sharing their knowledge
of plant selection, cultural practices and pest management with fellow
gardeners, school students and others.

The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service in Guilford County has a new gardening resource in time for holiday giving. This almanac, published exclusively for Piedmont gardeners, highlights 12 months of garden tips and guidelines designed specifically for North Carolina piedmont yard. Created by Guilford County Extension Master Gardens and Karen Neill, Urban Horticulture Extension agent, the new Almanac would be a gift enjoyed by everyone from garden novice to experienced landscaper.

The Almanac emphasizes successful gardening techniques aimed to help you:
* Prepare and maintain great piedmont lawns
* Landscape your yard
* Design and plan container gardens
* Choose the right plant for the right place
* Grow what you eat
* Use garden chemicals safely
* Prepare for winter, mulch, compost plus much, much more.

At only $5.00 it makes the perfect gift. You may pick up the Almanac, with a $5.00 check (no cash) for each copy at the Guilford County Cooperative Extension Center. To order copies of the Piedmont Gardeners Almanac, send check or money order for $7.00 per copy (includes shipping and handling) to the NC Cooperative Extension Center, 3309 Burlington Road, Greensboro, NC 27405.
